Taxonomic Comment: Informal name used for a set of Genbank records for isolates of Verticillium section Prostrata (=Lecanicillium) ex Scolypopa, Genbank records from New Zealand with this name probably represent two distinct Lecanicillium species based on data from Marshell et al. (2003). One of these (AF317541) matches isolates from sooty mould communities on Kunzea (ICMP 20146). The second matches another isolate from sooty mould community (ICMP 21611), and from a BLAST match perhaps represents Lecanicillium attentuatum, but the identitiy of the Genbank accessions needs checking.
