On bark of Phyllocladus trichomanoides (holotype UNITEC14864, isotype AK)., Pyrenula largei is named in honour of the Aotearoa | New Zealand botanist Dr. MarkLarge FLS (31 March 1959 −), who specialised in pteridology.
