- Specimen Kirk 226 K(M). Algae and sooty moulds present on same leaves, but presumably the fungus is the one associated with a thin, pale grey crust-like layer across extensive areas of the leaf, with scattered, small, black ascomata within these areas. Another collection identified as A. effusa (Colenso b885) appears to be a totally superficial layer of sooty mould fungi, or even just mud mixed with algae etc, and is on leaves of Blechnum.
