Nomenclatural Comment
Glochin is a Greek word meaning a projecting point, or barb of an arrow. It is a feminine noun. Triglochin is a compound generic name, three-barbed, and the gender of compound generic names is treated in Article 62.2 (b) Ex. 5 of the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature. This article states that compounds ending in glochin, achne... and other feminine words are feminine. Thus Triglochin would be treated as feminine and the correct species name woud be striata.
