Nomenclatural Comment
The name 'oligodontum' from the Latin meaning 'few teeth' refers to the leaves of this species which may be deeply toothed, sparingly toothed near the apex or entire, sometimes with all three conditions on the same plant. Plants with deeply toothed leaves are uncommon, whilst those with sparingly toothed leaves are more usual., Holotype: Chatham Islands: Chatham (Rekohu) Island, Western Reef, 15 January 2006, P.J. de Lange CH378 & J.W.D.
