Merckx, V.S.F.T.; Smets, E.F. 2014: Thismia americana, the 101st anniversary of a botanical mystery. International Journal of Plant Sciences 175(2): 165–175 advocte for recognising one endemic Thismia species, Thismia hillii, for New Zealand, but this idea needs to be robustly tested using multiple markers, multiple samples and backing that up with a thorough assessment of the morphology of Thismia rodwayi.
