Nomenclatural Comment
The epithet campbelliana means in honour of Campbell. However, Müller’s protologue gives no indication that he used this epithet in anything other than a geographic sense, in reference to the island. The island was discovered in 1810 and named after a principal in the merchant/whaling company Campbell, Hook, & Co. (C. Meurk, pers. comm., Jan. 2016). The epithet “campbelliensis” would arguably have been more appropriate., Type: Campbell I., J.D. Hooker. Not seen. (Lectotype in BM-Hooker designated by Vitt 1989.)
