- based on mixed collection [fide G.Cunn.];[SP]sensu auct. NZ; The supposed NZ record of S. citrinum is based on a Colenso collection reported by Berkeley’s (1855) and a Travers collection reported by Cooke (1879), both as ”Scleroderma vulgare Fr.” That name is an illegitimate synonym of Scleroderma citrinum Pers. 1801 --- but this species has never been confirmed from NZ, and current opinion is that these early collections probably represent Scleroderma albidum (or possibly Scleroderma cepa).
