- Based on unpublished ITS sequences, L. rhopalostylidis is genetically distant from other specimens considered typical of Lachnellula, e.g. Lachnellula suecica, KC464642 (CBS 268.59 ex Muller ex France), L, flavovirens, etc., and has a sister relationship with Lachnum palmae, another species with gelatinous excipular tissue, both species perhaps belonging in Erioscyphella sp.; the thick-walled excipular cells fit for this genus, cf Tanaka & Hosoya (2001) [PRJ, Aug 2019]
