- The epithet areolata was apparently chosen by Knight to acknowledge large laminal cells, emphasised in his protologue as “ubique e cellulis amplis” [Knight’s italics] and translated there as “areolae throughout large”. It is not particularly appropriate., Lectotype: N.Z., Knight s.n., WELT-Knight! (Designated by Fife 1995 p. 315.)
