- bas.: Merulius galeatus Schumach.:Fr., Enum. Pl. 2: 371, 1803; = Cantharellus galeatus (Schumach.:Fr.) Fr., Syst. Mycol. 1: 324, 1821, nom. com: pro parte; no NZ material. Cooke gives no details of the single N.Z. specimen examined; it is possibly the same collection that Cunningham identified as Lachnella muscigena. [For comments on the confusion surrounding Cooke's concepts of Chromocyphella galeata, Leptoglossum galeatum, and Leptoglossum muscigenum, see Redhead 1984, p. 881.] The Australian material included under Chromocyphella galeata sensu W.B.Cooke has been redetermined as Chromocyphella muscicola (Fr.:Fr.) Donk, fide May & Wood 1997, p. 35.
